OCCS is staffed with nine Clinical Counsellors and Registered Social Workers who have extensive training and experience in a variety of areas such as substance abuse, depression, relationship concerns, anxiety, trauma & PTSD, grief, domestic violence, child behavioural concerns, difficult life transitions, and many more. Our staff is also familiar with the concerns of the LGBTQ, Indigenous, and diverse abilities populations. Through several contracts with government agencies, OCCS is able to offer fully subsidized counselling services for qualifying individuals, those who hold an Indian Status Number and are impacted by a mental health concern, those involved in a ICBC claim who have experience collision related emotional injury, individuals who have been affected by a violent crime (directly or indirectly) through our Crime Victim Assistance Program, and individuals who have been affected by a work-related injury through WorkSafe BC. We also have direct billing for several extended health programs, which includes providing services to UBCO students. Beyond our subsidized counselling services, we also offer a variety of workshops at our client’s convenience addressing issues such as relationships, self-esteem, mindfulness, compassion fatigue, burnout, and employment for women impacted by violence, and to the Transgender population. Other speciality services include View of the Child Reports, Intensive Outpatient Treatment services, and Substance Abuse Assessments. To best support our clients OCCS offers a sliding fee scale, a free 20-minute initial consultation, offices in Kelowna, Westbank, Vernon and Penticton and after hours/weekend appointments when needed. Our clinicians at OCCS believe in creating authentic, compassionate relationships with clients and are equipped to provide Play Therapies, CBT, Solution Focused Coping, Sexual Abuse Intervention, EMDR Trauma Therapy and many more.
